Course description: 

The aim of this tutorial by Ashley Davidoff, M.D. is to provide a comprehensive review of applied anatomy of the lung with a focus on imaging procedures. The course will provide a understanding of the anatomy of the lung, mediastinum and tracheobronchial tree and how to apply that knowledge within medical imaging. Utilizing multiple imaging modalities, the learner will also gain an understanding of the more common pathological conditions affecting the lung.



Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this module you will be able to:

  • Describe the anatomy of the lung.
  • Describe the mediastinum, the trachea and the tracheobronchial tree.
  • Describe the connective tissues, blood supply, and lymphatics of the lung.
  • Discuss common pathological conditions and how they affect the lung.
  • Identify, compare and contrast normal and abnormal images of the lung.
  • Differentiate the role of conventional imaging and CT and what role they play in imaging studies of the lung.
