What you will learn

Course description:

This session will discuss the appearance of anatomy on computed tomography imaging and the mechanisms of injury involved in cervical spine injury. It will also discuss the computed tomography acquisition and radiation considerations involved in imaging of the cervical spine. Session 2 will discuss fractures and dislocations of the cervical spine resulting from acute injury.

Course objectives:

  • By the end of this session you will be able to:
  • Identify cervical spine anatomy on computed tomography imaging
  • Appreciate the mechanisms of injury and biomechanics of cervical injury
  • Recall the radiation doses related to computed tomography cervical spine imaging
  • Recall the injuries that occur in the cervical spine resulting from acute injury
  • Identify the stability of fractures
  • Describe their appearances on computed tomography imaging
