Course description: 

This Philips Clinical Education 2 hour course for ultrasound professionals is developed to meet the need to standardize performance protocols and diagnostic criteria for noninvasive evaluation of femoral and iliocaval venous stents. The course includes lectures and interactive case study.  Program topics include venous stent ultrasound image optimization, inflow and outflow evaluation, stent surveillance intervals, stent complications and abnormalities, protocols with case study including correlative imaging, all to enable competent and confident imaging with a step-by-step approach to ultrasound of femoral and iliocaval stents. This course is delivered by Muhammad Hasan, MBBCh, RPVI, RVT, RDCS & RDMS.

Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge of gross and sonographic anatomy of the iliocaval outflow pathway
  • Describe normal and abnormal findings s/p venous stenting of the femoral and iliocaval veins
  • Identify proper patient preparation, indications for testing, and imaging technique
  • Employ optimization techniques to improve clinical confidence
  • Correlate fundamental imaging from other modalities with ultrasound imaging
