This module delves deeper into digital imaging by focusing on the relationship between exposure level and the appearance of a digital image. An easy-to-understand collection of images included in this module helps you recognize image artifacts and ascertain their causes.

Essentials of Digital Imaging Module 4: Image Analysis is the fourth in a series of seven modules. This easy-to-follow educational program is designed for technologists who want to stay current in their career by discovering how technology has advanced digital imaging and learning the fundamental aspects of digital processing. After successful completion of all seven modules, participants will receive a recognition of achievement from the ASRT.

Course objectives: 

After completing this module, you will be able to:

  • Evaluate the effects of exposure changes on the appearance of a digital image.
  • Discuss the relationship between exposure indicator values, histogram analysis and automatic rescaling.
  • Evaluate a digitally acquired image to assess appropriate exposure level.
  • Locate different types of artifacts on a digital image and state their probable cause.
