Course description: 

This course is designed for healthcare professionals interested in learning more about the infections associated with HIV/AIDS. The content is organized into three broad sections: Section One describes some of the more common co-infections, including hepatitis and STDs; Section Two discusses opportunistic, AIDS-defining infections, including those that are bacterial, fungal, viral, and parasitical, as well as several malignancies; and Section Three provides general guidelines to delay or prevent occurrences of these infections.



Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, participants will be able to:

1) describe co-infections that complicate HIV infection
2) describe common AIDS-defining illnesses, their diagnosis, and treatments
3) describe life-style behaviors that delay or prevent AIDS-defining illnesses
