Course description: 

This course describes the anatomy and physiology of the normal breast, covering developmental changes and pregnancy. Sonographic technique, image appearance, equipment selection, instrumentation and image artifacts are presented to familiarize you with the breast ultrasound exam. Mammographic views are included for accurate breast mass localization and anatomic positioning enables you to accurately correlate sonographic images with mammography.




Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the anatomy of the breast
  • Explain basic terminology used to describe a breast mass
  • Demonstrate transducer and image orientation
  • Discuss the various methods to label a mass found in the breast
  • Compare mammographic and sonographic location of a mass
  • Describe the physiologic changes of the breast during a woman's life cycle
