Course description: 

This tutorial covers anatomy, physiology, pathology, cancer grading, and transrectal sonographic imaging of the prostate. This is an excellent primer for the beginning imager or a review for the experienced sonographer.



Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, you will be able to:

  • Correlate prostate anatomy and scanning planes to images,
  • Describe the connection between prostate physiology and laboratory values,
  • Identify benign and malignant pathology found in the prostate,
  • Correct PSA values for prostate gland size,
  • List the stages of prostate cancer in relation to the Gleason Scale, and
  • Describe the Jewett and Whitmore Classification of prostate cancer.
