Course description: 

This Philips Clinical Education 2 hour course for non-invasive vascular diagnostic professionals is designed assist ultrasound professionals in the evaluation of lower extremity venous pathology. The course includes lectures and interactive case study.  Program topics include an overview of IAC standards for patency and reflux, review of deep and superficial venous anatomy and pathophysiology, sonographic evaluation of deep and superficial venous systems, and technique and optimization guidance from a leading voice in the field, all to provide confident imaging with a step-by-step approach to ultrasound of the lower extremities. This course is delivered by Muhammad Hasan, MBBCh, RPVI, RVT.

Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and general approach for lower extremity venous evaluation
  • Describe normal and abnormal findings in lower extremity ultrasound evaluation
  • Identify proper patient preparation, indications for testing, and imaging technique
  • Employ optimization techniques to improve clinical confidence.
  • Obtain and/or increase confidence to incorporate protocols, techniques, and interpretation criteria to improve diagnostic accuracy
