Course description: 

This 2 hour program provides the and overview of the knowledge needed for those performing hepato-portal vascular ultrasound exams both pre- and post intervention.  This course provides a review of the essential anatomy and physiology, sonographic appearance of normal and pathological findings, TIPS evaluation, as well as protocol and criteria for these evaluations. Educational material will be presented in the form of detailed lectures as well as some correlative case study.

Upon completion of this course, attendees should be able to:

  • Demonstrate the appropriate knowledge of anatomy, physiology, pathophysiology and general approach for hepato-portal ultrasound evaluations
  • Describe imaging protocols and diagnostic criteria used for duplex sonography hepato-portal vessels
  • Describe imaging protocols and diagnostic criteria used for duplex sonography evaluation of TIPS
  • Obtain and/or increase confidence to incorporate protocols, techniques, and interpretation criteria to improve diagnostic and treatment accuracy
