Course description: 

This module offers a look at radiation safety in the operating room environment. A historical overview of units of radiation measurement will be presented along with a discussion on the principles of "As Low As Reasonably Achievable" (ALARA) and radiation protection of both personnel and the patient. In addition, the program reviews types of radiation generating equipment utilized in the operating room (OR) and the approximate radiation exposures for some diagnostic OR procedures.
