This tutorial describes the different imaging modalities role in the evaluation, diagnosis, and staging of prostate diseases.



Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this tutorial you will be able to:

  • Describe the anatomy of the prostate.
  • Explain the function of the prostate.
  • Describe the PSA test.
  • Identify the various prostate tests.
  • Discuss how ultrasound, CT, MRI, PET, SPECT, and Nuclear Medicine are utilized for imaging the prostate.
  • Explain the connection between prostate physiology and laboratory values.
  • Describe the Gleason scale, Jewett and Whitmore and the TNM classification of prostate cancer.
