Course description:

With advancements in percutaneous procedures for management of structural heart disease, the importance of high quality imaging cannot be over emphasized. In complex structural heart disease, anatomy cannot be fully appreciated by only 2-D echocardiography. 3-D echocardiography is useful for comprehensive evaluation of
anatomy and describing relation of catheters and devices involved in percutaneous procedures to anatomic structures in three dimensional space. In addition 3-D TEE especially real time 3-D echo is useful for intraprocedural guidance during catheter based interventional procedures like trans-catheter aortic valve replacement, mitral clip, left atrial appendage occluder devices, atrial septal defect device closure, and percutaneous closure of paravalvular leaks.

This two-day course is designed for cardiologists, anesthesiologists and other physicians involved in management of structural heart disease. This course will give an overall view of imaging recommended for baseline evaluation of common structural heart defects. This course will also describe imaging steps involved in intra-procedural guidance of catheter based interventional procedures for management of structural heart defects.

The speaker for this course will be Sarwar Orakzai MD, FACC, FASNC, RPVI
