Frequently Asked Questions

What are these exams?

The Philips Certified Professional Program has developed certification examinations to assess your knowledge and skills as a proficient service engineer of Philips MRI systems.

The program consists of two exams, each with 60 multiple-choice questions that are designed to measure the candidates level of competency in the identified job practice domains.

NOTE: This program is in pilot status. We are validating the exam questions to identify the items that effectively measure the competencies.

By taking the exams, you help us validate the test questions that are meaningful.

Who should take the exams?

The current candidate audiences for these certifications are:

  • Philips employees who service MR systems
  • Philips authorized service professionals
  • Philips MR service instructors

Who will see my exam scores?

The purpose of the pilot exams is to validate the test items, not evaluate your score. No one will see your individual score, other than the Certification Manager.

Do I have to go to a test center to take the exam?

Traditionally, certification exams are administered in test centers where exam proctors verify the identity of exam takers and then monitor the exam session to ensure that no outside assistance or unapproved notes are used.

At Philips, we offer certification exams online, using Certifior, a remote proctor environment. Exam proctor applications use your computer’s webcam and microphone to record the exam session. The recording is later reviewed to ensure that you adhered to the policies for exam taking.

During the application process, applicants submit a photo of them self. The photo is later compared with the video captured during the exam to ensure the applicant and the test taker are the same person.

Although the additional effort to submit the photo and set up the proctoring application may seem like a lot of effort, it is far less effort than traveling to a test center. With proctor applications, you can take the exam from any quiet space that has internet access. You can also schedule the exam for a time that is convenient to you.

How long does an exam take to complete?

You have two and one half hours to complete each exam. You should plan additional time to prepare your system and start the exam. We recommend you schedule three hours to complete an exam.

How do I prepare to take the exam?

Refer to the Readiness Checklist to prepare for the exam. The checklist provides information about the exam, study resources, and the practice test that you can take.

This Quick Step includes instructions on setting up your account and your system to take an exam.
