Course description: 

This Philips Vue PACS Administrator course is an intensive four (4) day certification workshop focused on Philips Vue PACS Administrator implementation and administration which includes hands-on exercises, lecture, and group projects with clinical and administrative use cases that detail best practices. You will be provided an individual PACS stand-alone system, a theoretical introduction, and practical demos and exercises. You will acquire a better understanding of skills needed to become proficient on various administrative tasks and functions of Vue PACS applications.

Course objectives: 

After completing this course, you will be able to:

  • Describe the various components comprising a PACS system.
  • Identify the different software components of a the Vue PACS system.
  • Describe the concept of “streaming” and compression of images.
  • Identify the differences between users and groups.
  • Identify what profiles are, and how they are used.
  • Construct Users & Groups on the Vue PACS system.
  • Perform updates and reconciliations of studies in the PACS DB and Vue Explorer.
  • Describe and utilize the Data Import key features and functions.
  • Configure the Data Import software.
  • Describe and utilize the Non-DICOM Import key features and functions.
  • Use the different study and series level toolbars, adjust layouts, and understand the registration feature.
  • Identify the difference between key images and bookmarks.
  • Adjust the parameters of MPR, and successfully utilize MPR options.
  • Utilize the application settings to make user, group, and system level customizations, and understand how these customizations affect workflow.
  • Log into Vue Motion and utilize the web-based viewer typically used by clinicians. 
  • Utilize a D3 print (DICOM tag list), find the DICOM field names, and search for the information contained in these fields.
  • Explain what a Display Protocol is, why they are important, how they are used, how they are built, what makes them work, and what they will not do.
  • Utilize the dictionary maintenance tool and add entries.
  • Indicate where the Audit Trail, license status, procedure code table, info-router, IS Link are located.
  • Demonstrate proficiency in troubleshooting various common clinical problems on the PACS system.
