Course description: 

This 1.5-hour Virtual Speaker-Led Training course is designed to review ultrasound features seen in association with missed abortion, persistent bleeding post early pregnancy loss, ectopic pregnancy, and molar pregnancy.

Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to: 

  • Understand the correlation between B-HCG levels and orderly appearance of the early gestational sac, yolk sac, and fetus with cardiac activity.
  • Differentiate between diamniotic dichorionic placentation, diamniotic monochorionic placentation, and monoamniotic monochorionic placentation. 
  • Understand the ACOG-SRU criteria to establish the diagnosis of missed abortion and how they differ from older criteria 
  • Recognize the importance of color Doppler in identifying retained products and subinvolution of the placenta sites.
  • Recognize typical features seen with ectopic pregnancy.   
  • Recognize the placental characterteristics seen with partial molar pregnancy.
  • Recognize the appearance of arterio-venous malformations. 
  • Understand the role of misoprostol and mifepristone intreating missed abortion.
