Course description: 

The Advanced Fetal Echocardiography University is a one-day, physician-led course that will provide the learner a comprehensive overview of the clinical applications, techniques and interpretation of Fetal Echo imaging to aid in the diagnosis of structural malformations of  the heart. Educational material will be presented in the form of lectures, case presentations and *live scanning sessions.

Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this program, attendees should be able to:

  • Recognize the normal and abnormal anatomy of the four chamber heart
  • Explain and discuss the scanning protocol necessary for a comprehensive fetal heart exam
  • List and describe the common forms of congenital heart disease
  • Understand the terminology associated with congenital heart disease and fetal  cardiology
  • Recognize and understand the various Doppler waveforms associated with fetal heart imaging
  • Increase knowledge and diagnostic confidence in the performance and/or interpretation of fetal echocardiograms
