Course description: 

This one-day program provides the basic fundamental information necessary to acquire knowledge and skill in performing Fetal Echocardiography Ultrasound exams.  Lecture topics will include cardiac embryology, fetal circulation, cardiac anatomy and scanning protocol, color and spectral Doppler of the fetal heart and common fetal cardiac anomalies.

Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Understand the basic principles of Cardiac Embryology
  • Understand the basic principles of Fetal Circulation
  • Recognize normal Fetal Cardiac Anatomy
  • Recognize the Sonographic Views used in performing a Fetal Echocardiogram
  • Recognize basic fetal cardiac color and spectral Doppler images
  • Be familiar with some of the most common forms of congenital heart disease diagnosed with Fetal Echocardiography
