Course description: 

Genitourinary Ultrasound is a one-day, sonographer led course that will provide the learner a comprehensive overview of the up-to-date sonographic imaging techniques used to evaluate the kidneys, scrotum and prostate gland. The course will cover a review of anatomy and physiology, common pathology and lab values.

Course objectives: 

Upon completion of this course, the learner should be able to:

  • Discuss the proper technique, sonographic application and interpretation of renal, scrotal and prostate exams
  • Recognize and distinguish between benign and malignant pathology
  • List causes of both bilateral and unilateral obstruction of the kidneys
  • Discuss pediatric pathology in the kidneys
  • Recognize and discuss normal variant and when sonographic findings may expand the protocol
  • Recognize and discuss biopsy techniques
