With further advancements in percutaneous procedures for management of structural heart disease, the importance of high quality imaging cannot be over emphasized. In complex mitral valve disease, anatomy cannot be fully appreciated by only 2-D echocardiography. 3-D echocardiography is essential for comprehensive evaluation of mitral valve anatomy and describing relation of catheters and devices involved in percutaneous procedures to anatomic structures in three dimensional space. 3-D modes such as X-plane imaging, live 3D imaging, 3-D zoom and color 3-D provide incremental information compared to 2-D echo. In addition 3-D TEE especially real time 3-D echo is essential for intra-procedural guidance during catheter based interventional procedures like mitral clip. This course is designed for cardiologists, cardiac surgeons, anesthesiologists, sonographers and other medical providers involved in mitral clip procedure. This course will give a comprehensive overview of baseline evaluation of mitral regurgitation with special emphasis on candidacy for mitral clip procedure. This course will describe anatomy of mitral valve in both 2-D and 3-D imaging to help identify the etiology and mechanism of mitral regurgitation. This course will also describe step by step imaging involved in intra-procedural guidance of mitral clip procedure for management of mitral regurgitation. Case examples will be used to help illustrate comprehensive imaging necessary to approach different mitral valve pathologies treated with mitral clip procedure. Currency: USDCourse objectives: Upon successful completion of this program, attendees should be able to: • Perform comprehensive TEE imaging evaluation necessary for baseline assessment of mitral regurgitation • Appreciate the importance of comprehensive 2-D and 3-D imaging to identify the etiology and mechanism of mitral regurgitation • Appreciate the incremental value of 3D TEE in evaluating mitral valve anatomy • Understand the utility of various modes of 3D echocardiography, such as X-plane, Live, Zoom, Full Volume and Color 3D in assessment of mitral regurgitation • Understand the advantages and limitations of various 3D modes in assessment of mitral regurgitation • Appreciate the use of Live 3D TEE to aid in procedural planning • Understand the use of various 3D TEE modes for guidance during mitral clip • Understand step by step TEE imaging involved in intra-procedural guidance of mitral clip procedure • Understand comprehensive imaging necessary to approach different mitral valve pathologies treated with mitral clip procedure utilizing different clinical cases Course details Course Code: CVSP062VILTDelivery method: Instructor-led Webinar Language: English Duration: 60 Minutes Course disclaimer: The content is for information and education only.
