Course description:

With advancements in percutaneous procedures for managing structural heart disease, the importance of high-quality imaging cannot be over-emphasized. In complex structural heart disease, anatomy cannot be fully appreciated by only 2-D echocardiography. 3-D echocardiography is helpful for the comprehensive evaluation of
anatomy and for describing the relation of catheters and devices involved in percutaneous procedures to anatomic structures in three-dimensional space. In addition, 3-D TEE, especially real-time 3-D echo, is helpful for intraprocedural guidance during catheter-based interventional procedures like transcatheter aortic valve replacement, mitral clip, left atrial appendage occluder devices, atrial septal defect device closure, and percutaneous closure of paravalvular leaks.

This one-day course is designed for cardiologists, anesthesiologists and other physicians involved in the management of structural heart disease. It is structured to provide a comprehensive understanding of the imaging techniques recommended for the baseline evaluation of common structural heart defects, as well as the steps involved in using these techniques for intra-procedural guidance of catheter-based interventional procedures. By the end of this course, you will be well-prepared to apply this knowledge in your practice.

The speaker for this course will be Sarwar Orakzai MD, FACC, FASNC, RPVI
