Course description: 

This interactive virtual learning course in right ventricular performance examines observable benchmarks during routine clinical echocardiography or POCUS that may indicate more comprehensive evaluation of RV function in various patient presentations. Direct and surrogate measurements of function are compared and discussed regarding use of both 2-D and 3-D methodology regarding prognostic value.

Virtual training is a facilitator-led, live online learning event that is delivered in a virtual environment. Participants can be geographically dispersed and also individually connected. Each learner uses their own computer or other compatible device. Virtual training is synchronous, meaning that participants are connected at the same time as the facilitator. Philips virtual training events typically range from 60-120 minutes in length with a maximum of 10 participants. This socially engaging, purposefully-designed training allows participants the same quality education of an instructor-led classroom without the need or expense of traveling.

  1. Define specific patient groups or clinical history which indicate specific interrogation of right ventricular function while performing routine echocardiograms
  2. Describe protocols and techniques in performing the most common surrogate 2-D methods of estimating RV performance
  3. Discuss approaches and calculations for Doppler based right-sided hemodynamic function
  4. Compare the use of 2-D versus 3-D based volumetric measurements and chamber size evaluation
